Sussex based designer Phoebe Sherwood is known for the for way she playfully interprets natural form using a combination of sustainable materials such as wood, recycled silver and recycled gold. Phoebe gets much of her inspiration from her English upbringing and Scottish heritage, as well as wildlife, and objects that she sees whilst out walking her dog, Ernie. Phoebe uses her experience as an illustrator to record and stylise these observations, and later sculpt and refine them in the studio, each piece uniquely fine-crafted with a contemporary edge. Phoebe began making jewellery whilst studying Art & Design at Brighton City College before taking on an apprenticeship and working for a goldsmith for four years. She founded Phoebe Jewellery in 2011.
To this date, Phoebe has released seven nature inspired collections as well as a line of one-off pieces made from recycled gold and responsibly sourced diamonds. Through the years Phoebe Jewellery has gained a strong celebrity following and recognition by the press as well as awards including winning the British Jewellers Association (BJA) award for ‘Excellence in Design’, being chosen alongside a select few jewellers viewed as ‘Talent of the Future’ for International Jewellery London (IJL) KickStart, highly commended for the IJL ‘Editor’s Choice Award’, nominated for the BJA ‘Newcomer of the Year 2014’ award, highly commended for the Professional Jewellery ‘Emerging Designer Collections of the Year award2014’, finalist in the Retail Jeweller ‘UK Jewellery Awards 2015’ and recognised by Professional Jeweller magazine as one of the ‘HOT 100’ jewellers of 2015.
