This is a heavy gold plate over sterling silver and it is generally thicker than what is referred to as gold plate. We use three microns or more of 18 carat gold over silver. Although 3 microns is considered generous, it can still wear off over time on pieces that take more wear (especially with rings and bracelets). If this happens and you do not like the appearance of the silver underneath, please feel free to get in touch for the cost of re-plating.

What is gold vermeil?
How do I clean my silver jewellery without effecting the wood?
To clean the silver, we advise using a silver cloth. If stored correctly and not allowed to dry out, you can use your silver cloth again and again and it’s great for shining the silver up as good as new! To really clean the chain, we recommend a silver dip which can be bought from most jewellery shops. Just follow the instructions on the pot and take care not to allow any of the parts with wood to have contact with the liquid. Feel free to email us for more information or advice on this.
Will the wood stay looking lovely?
Yes, in fact the wood loves being next to the skin and it tends to darken slightly with age and wear which we think adds to it’s beauty. The wood will benefit from being treated to a coat of oil such as linseed or coconut from time to time but please note, this can darken it the first time. Do not let the wood to get wet and also avoid contact with perfumed products.
